Sander van den Berg compiles a video of Saturnian system and Jupiter from the images of NASA's Cassini and Voyager missions. The images used in this video are real images taken in space. At 00:49 in the video you can see one of the Moons Moonlet of Saturn dives in to the disk causing a "mini jet" (#Mind_Blown).

A brilliant video footage put together from the image archive.

You can also see the raw images from the Cassini mission, here

By now, you should have heard a company called "Planetary Resources" is going to mine Near Earth Asteroids for their precious metals like platinum and water. I am really excited about this news. It is about time, I can drink my coffee looking at the Blue Marble! One asteriod may contain more platinum that has been mined in all of history.

Watch the Planetary Resources press conference here, which was held on April 24, 2012 at Charles Simonyi Space Gallery.

Also Planetary Resources has released a video about the company and what they will be doing,

The company was founded by space visionary Peter H. Diamandis, M.D. and leading commercial space entrepreneur Eric Anderson, and is supported by an impressive investor and advisor group, including Google's Larry Page & Eric Schmidt, Ph.D.; film maker & explorer James Cameron; Chairman of Intentional Software Corporation and Microsoft's former Chief Software Architect Charles Simonyi, Ph.D.; Founder of Sherpalo and Google Board of Directors founding member K. Ram Shriram; and Chairman of Hillwood and The Perot Group Ross Perot, Jr.

On April 22 at 10:39 a.m. EDT, the ISS Progress 47 cargo craft docked to the Pirs docking compartment of the International Space Station. Progress 47 was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on April 20, loaded with 2.5 tons of food, fuel and supplies for the six crew members aboard the orbiting laboratory.

In the video you can see the cargo craft thrusts many times to dock to the space station, a wonderful site.

Ireneusz Nowak says, "We were on visual observations on Tapadla Pass near Wroclaw Poland trying to seize the opportunity of the last new Moon with astronomical night this spring. The first part of the night was quite cloudy, but after 1.30am the sky became very transparent and contrast. I was just taking some photos of MilkyWay when suddenly very spectacular and bright "shooting star" brightened the night exploding on the southern part of the sky. Happily it caught in the frame."
Picture was taken using NikonD90 + Nikkor AF-S 18-105DX @ 18mm, 1600ASA, 20s exposure.

Phil Ostroff photographs the Lyrid Meteor Shower,

Solar disk is covered with four sunspots now. Three sunspots (AR 1459, AR 1460, AR 1462) are crackling with C-class solar flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 30% chance of an M-class flare during the next 24 hours. The Sunspot AR 1465 which was formed today and quite young, will most likely be the source.

On April 16, 2012 around 17:45 UT, A large CME blasts off over the north-eastern limb of the Sun producing M1.7 class flare. The CME produced will not hit the Earth, but it is likely to hit the NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft. The active region that produced this flare, will rotate to Earth facing side soon.

Below is the image of the CME blasts off the Sun,

On April 21, 2012 the annual Lyrid Meteor Shower will peak under new Moon. The Lyrid meteor shower comes from the comet "Thatcher". Every year in late April Earth passes through the stream of debris from the old comet. 15 to 20 meteors per hour could shower the night sky and produce some fire balls. Good time to see the Meteor Shower is after midnight.
